Below are the basic game rules for Classic Hangman:

Game Rules:

Setup: To start a game of Classic Hangman, one player thinks of a word or phrase and selects a blank space for each letter in the word or phrase. The blanks represent the letters that need to be guessed, and underscores or dashes are often used as placeholders. The word or phrase is kept secret from the other players.
Guessing Letters: Players take turns guessing one letter at a time. If the guessed letter is in the word or phrase, the player who thought of the word reveals its position(s) in the blanks. If the guessed letter is not in the word or phrase, a portion of the "hangman" figure is drawn (usually starting with the gallows, then the head, body, arms, and legs). The number of incorrect guesses allowed before the hangman is fully drawn varies but typically includes six incorrect guesses.
Word or Phrase Completion: Players continue taking turns, guessing letters until they either:
- Successfully guess all the letters in the word or phrase, in which case they win the game.
- Fail to guess the word or phrase correctly before the hangman figure is fully drawn, in which case they lose the game.
Optional Categories: To add variety and challenge, players can choose to play with specific categories, such as "movies," "animals," "food," or any other theme. The chosen category provides a hint for the word or phrase being guessed.
Creating a Hangman: If a player's guess is incorrect, they draw a portion of the hangman figure. Some players use a predefined hangman template with all the necessary components, while others draw the hangman from scratch as incorrect guesses accumulate.
Winning and Losing: The game ends when the word or phrase is guessed correctly, or the hangman figure is completed. If the hangman is fully drawn, the player who thought of the word or phrase wins. If the word or phrase is guessed, the player who successfully guessed it wins.
